Sequim — April 8, 2008

Let the festivities begin.

Sequim Little League celebrates the opening of the 2008 season this Saturday with ceremonies highlighted by a 32-team parade, Coast Guard flyover, an honoring of Sequim’s first all-star team from 20 years ago, and ceremonial first pitch by 50-year league veteran and district administrator Art Mikelson, who is retiring this year.

With donations from Angeles Topsoil, Diamond Construction, Fred Hill Materials, Davis Sand and Gravel and other local businesses, plus volunteer time from the local Boys & Girls Clubs, Sunrise Rotary and community members, Sequim's Little League ballparks got new infield dirt, painted bleachers, concession stands cleaned, the entrance road graded and more on March 29.

The legaue has also scheduled a spaghetti feed and raffle at Carrie Blake Park that starts at 5 p.m. on April 28.
