So far, so good — perfect, even.

Sequim’s boys tennis team is 6-0 heading into this week’s showdown with Port Angeles, picking up a pair of wins against Bremerton and North Kitsap.

On Sept. 25, Sequim blanked Bremerton’s Knight 7-0.

Sequim singles players Reed Gunstone, Mallory Maloney and Joe Puntenney each won in straight sets.

Byron Boots and Michael Lee  topped Doug Erickson and Matt Pohl in No. 1 doubles (6-3, 6-1) while Waylon Lam and David Richards won in No. 2 doubles (6-3, 6-4) against Bremerton’s Will Estvanik and Shane Mundy.

Andrew Gunstone and Donovan Lee won in No. 3 doubles while teammates Evan Hill and Kelvin Li improved to 4-0 as doubles partners this season, winning the No. 4 doubles match in straight sets.

Sequim was scheduled to take on rival Port Angeles — likely Sequim’s top competition for the Olympic League title — on Sept. 28.

Sequim is at Olympic on Sept. 30 and Klahowya on Oct. 5, before three consecutive home matches to finish the regular season: Oct. 7 vs. Kingston, Oct. 9 vs. Port Townsend and Oct. 12 vs. North Mason.

The Olympic League tournament is scheduled for Oct. 16.

Sequim routs NK

Sequim High’s boys tennis squad passed its first big test of the season early last week with a 6-1 victory at North Kitsap on Sept. 21.

Reed Gunstone won in No. 1 singles with a 6-1, 6-1 victory against Rex Olson while Maloney took down NK’s No. 2, David Gerstenberger, in straight sets, 6-1 and 6-0.

Puntenney added a win in No. 3 singles.

In doubles action, Boots and Lee outlasted a tough No. 1 Vikings team, Alex Olson and Jordan Seth, 7-5 and 7-6 (7-5).

Sequim’s Lam and Richards won in straight sets in No. 2 doubles.

Steven Brertmayer and Chris Gracey got the only Viking match win in No. 3 doubles.
