2017 Tourism Board vacancies filled

The Olympic Peninsula Visitor Bureau, the tourism marketing agency for unincorporated Clallam County, announces three new members in at-large positions on its nine-member 2017 board of directors.

Board members are appointed to a three-year term and reside or do business in the unincorporated areas of Clallam County, outside of the city limits of Forks, Sequim and Port Angeles.

New 2017-2020 members each representing at-large positions are Linda Offutt, Forks Timber Museum, Forks; Melissa Williams, Feiro Marine Life Center, Port Angeles; and Christina Norman, WeDo Fudge, Sequim.

Returning board members are Jim Bennett, Misty Valley Inn, 10 lodging rooms or fewer; Todd Gubler, past president; Craig Jaeger, GreenHouse Inn by the Bay, Bed &Breakfast; Bruce Giddens, Clallam County Parks; Scott Nagel, Olympic Peninsula Celebrations; and Pam Dahl, at-large lodging, Aramark. Clallam County Commissioner Mark Ozias serves as ex-officio on the OPVB board.

Jaeger, OPVB board president, said, “We are excited to welcome the new board members with their deep dedication to the community, especially with their understanding of how tourism benefits our local economy.”

Offutt, noted, “Serving on the OPVB Board will give me the opportunity to help with shaping the future of tourism for the good of the peninsula as a whole,” and Williams said, “Clallam County is a truly special place and I was interested in joining the Olympic Peninsula Visitor Bureau Board to help drive economic vitality in our region. The OPVB works hard to increase shoulder season visitation and thus a better impact on businesses across the county.”

Norman said, “I’m blessed to live in such a beautiful place where visitors from near and far come to explore. I believe in learning, growing and giving back so I can be a good ambassador and educated business owner.”

The OPVB board provides strategic direction on tourism-related policies, programs and promotions. The OPVB staff engages in many facets of marketing and working with numerous local and regional partners and provides administrative support for the Olympic Peninsula Tourism Commission, a 12-partner marketing group comprised of the chambers of commerce and tourism marketing entities from Brinnon/Quilcene area to Quinault via the northern Highway 101 route, and including areas along Highway 112.
