Clear Image buys Artistic Framing Market
Combining a frame and photo business seems only natural for two relative newcomers to Sequim.
Finding that her passion for framing consumed too much of her time, Leslie Curran, who owned of Artistic Framing Market along U.S. Highway 101 for more than a year, decided to sell her business to Daniel Jolly of Marysville. Jolly combined the frame business with his Clear Image Photography to open a shop in Sequim.
Curran remains part-time to construct frames.
“No more 24/7,” Curran said. “I never did anything around here. There are places I still haven’t seen.”
Jolly steps in to offer the same full range of framing services along with photo services such as fine art printing, restorations, digitizing prints, negatives and slides, video transfers and passport photo services.
He said niche services — such as “shoebox scanning” (conversion of boxes of photos to digital prints), metal wall art and photo restorations using archival printing methods — set Clear Image apart from chain stores.
“Cheap prints box stores have down,” he said. “We don’t try to compete with them. We’re going to try to do things differently.”
Clear Image is across from Sequim High School and open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday. Jolly operates his Marysville store earlier in the week.
“My wife and three kids and I love Sequim and jumped at the opportunity to live here,” he said.
“We are ready for an adventure and we’re looking forward to becoming a valuable part of the community here.”
In a month or so of being open, Jolly has learned Sequim is a word-of-mouth place and much of his clientele includes artists.
“Leslie has brought a lot of customers here,” Jolly said.
Curran remains doing the arrangement and construction of frames while Jolly makes the pieces for her along with doing all aspects of the photo side of the business.
Those looking for frames can receive free quotes, but Curran recommends people bring in the items they’d like to frame for best results.
Jolly offers multiple packages and services in photographic printing, restoration and video conversion, with prices available on his website, www.goclearimage.com, or by phone at 681-7622.
