Celebrate Earth Day at Gardiner’s Wild Birds

On Saturday, April 19, Wild Birds Unlimited in Gardiner hosts its ninth annual Earth Day Celebration from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Highlighting the day’s festivities are the nonprofit organizations Northwest Raptor and Wildlife Center and Discovery Bay Bird Rescue. Jaye and Gary Moore of the Northwest Raptor and Wildlife Center and Cindy Daily of Discovery Bay Bird Rescue will be on hand with their rehabilitated birds of prey and rescued songbirds.

Entertainment includes local bluegrass master Cort Armstrong and FarmStrong. The Northwest Bluegrass Band will be jamming all afternoon and The Wind People will give a short recital of flute music performed by grade school youths at noon.

Other local organizations from the peninsula share programs they are working on to support, protect and preserve native wildlife, habitat and resources.
