Historically, the daily grind is nothing to look forward to. But Shae Bennett is changing that for people in Sequim.

 

Bennett’s Port Angeles coffee stand, The Daily Grind, now has a sister location in what was Latte 101.
“I’ve been wanting to open a Sequim one for a while and I’d looked at this location before,” she said.

The Sequim site, at 615 E. Washington St., is larger than the Port Angeles stand, with more room to decorate for the holidays, make soup and sandwiches, and has its own bathroom, she said.

 

The Port Angeles location, opened in July 2008, doesn’t have a bathroom and employees have to run to other businesses when nature calls.

 

Additionally, the new location has sentimental value since it was Sequim’s first coffee stand in 1993, she said.

 

The official opening date was Oct. 14.

 

Bennett, who grew up in Port Angeles and now lives in Sequim with her husband, Jeff, and their children, said the eight employees at The Daily Grind stands pride themselves on making consistently good coffee.
Regular employee meetings make sure everyone is on the same page with their technique, she said.

Both coffee stands also offer cocoa or steamers for children, free with any purchase.

 

“All the girls who work for me love what they’re doing,” she said. “We have so much fun.”

 

The Daily Grind also performs charity functions, including donating tips for Adopt A Family.

 

On Nov. 11-12 both stands will pool their tips to adopt a Clallam County family

for Christmas.

 

Bennett said last year $800 was raised and they adopted two families: a family of nine and a family of five.

 

“We were able to buy everything they needed, wanted and more,” she said.

 

The Daily Grind is open seven days a week, 365 days a year.

 

The official grand opening is Nov. 17-18.
