Employees of First Federal spent time in classrooms throughout the North Olympic Peninsula on April 24 to give savings lessons to students as part of Teach Children to Save Day, sponsored by the American Bankers Association Education Foundation.

Classroom visits included games and activities about the concept of saving, how interest makes money grow, how to budget and how to determine wants and needs.

First Federal offers the following tips to help parents make every day “Savings Day”:

• Help children open up their own bank savings account and make deposits regularly.

• Make going to the bank fun.

• Talk to your child about creating a personal budget.

• Give your children positive feedback and encouragement regarding savings.
