Thrifty shoppers filled the Serenity Shop Thrift Store’s new space on Saturday, March 2.

Store manager Belicia “Belle” Muñoz said there was good turnout inside the thrift store at 551 W. Washington St., in the now-named Serenity Square, formerly Kite Girl Plaza.

“There are some minor touches left to do,” she said. “We’ll see what we can do (this week). We have more and more merchandise to put on the shelves.”

Shoppers treated themselves to free refreshments and some won drawings on the hour. Representatives with the Sequim-Dungeness Valley Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting. Proceeds from the store mostly help Serenity House of Clallam County work to prevent and end homelessness in the area.

Its regular hours are 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday; 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Saturday; and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday. Donations are accepted until 30 minutes before closing on the east side of the building.
