Wind Rose Cellars’ Primitivo get praise

The votes are in and the judges have selected a wine made in Sequim as the “Best of Show” and “Best Red Wine” at the Capital Food and Wine Festival held in mid-March in Olympia.

Wind Rose Cellars’ 2013 Primitivo was made at their winery based in Sequim and was selected among more than 100 varietal and blended wines from Washington state wineries that were featured at the event.

David Volmut, owner and winemaker for Wind Rose Cellars, says the 2013 vintage was a near-perfect growing season and an excellent one for Washington state.

According to the Great Northwest Wine review, “Olympic Peninsula vintner David Volmut creates an expressive and delicious example of this Italian grape that’s scarce in our region.”
