Jamestown Excavating hires new leadership team

Jamestown Excavating recently welcomed a new leadership team to help direct its growing business.

Lonn Sweers has been hired as division manager, and Christina Owens is the business’s new office manager/bookkeeper.

Sweers comes to the job with more than 20 years of experience with a large excavating company in Portland, Ore., where he began as a laborer and rose to the level of superintendent, an eventually to general manager.

His work includes site preparation for skyscrapers, sewer line construction using robotic technology, and other significant excavation projects.

Lonn and his wife, along with their two sons, moved to Sequim last year, following his mother and sister.

Owens comes from Missouri where she received her bachelor’s degree in corporate finance. When her family moved to Sequim she followed, first working for two years at 7 Cedars Casino as a revenue auditor and then as accounting assistant specialist.

“After more than 20 years of incubating this business, we are now positioning ourselves to enter a larger arena where we can increase our capacity to bid and complete larger jobs,” Hawk Grinnell, the tribe’s Economic Development Authority Finance Manager, said.
