What’s New at the Market: A dog-friendly venue

The Sequim Farmers Market is a popular destination for people in our community to bring their dogs every Saturday. Not only are well behaved dogs on a leash welcome at the market, but several of the vendors at the market offer a variety of products and services for your four-legged companion.

Throughout the market dogs will sniff out a number of “watering holes” where vendors set out water dishes for the eclectic variety of canines that pass through each week. As you pass by the market booth at the Sequim Avenue entrance, don’t be surprised if market associate Isabelle comes out to personally greet your dog upon arrival.

As you peruse the market, enjoying the Summer Live Music Series while you lunch on authentic Filipino cuisine, you will come across an assortment of expertly crafted necessities for your dog.

Vicki Swann at Canine Connected offers hand-sewn buckle and martingale collars, harnesses and non-traditional leash options, all of which are the result of her extensive experience in training and behavior work with service dogs, search dogs and rescue groups. You can bring your dog to her booth for a custom fitting and select from her variety of designs, as well as the assortment of decorative ribbon sewn into her products for a personalized accent.

At The Art of Pottery, you will find ceramic artist Art Brooks with an assortment of both decorative and functional work created by hand, and finished with a blend of traditional glazes with alternative firing techniques. He offers a selection of beautiful water dishes for your pet, as well as tastefully designed urns that owners can choose to honor the memory of their companions when they pass away.

At Bountiful Pleasures, among racks of skirts, aprons, and quilts created by hand with unique and quality up-cycled material, you will find that talented fabric artist Libby Ballard also makes one-of-a-kind dog bandanas.

Sativa Valley Essentials makes a cannabidiol tincture especially formulated for pets. With their all-natural Pet Tincture, your dog can achieve a more active lifestyle with benefits that include soothing muscle pain and arthritis, as well as reducing anxiety from loud noises, new environments, or separation.

At the Calf-inated Cow, ask about their raw dog food, also known as “Higgin’s Happy Hound Food.” This nutritious blend of organ meat from their locally raised, 100 percent grass-finished beef is great to use as a supplement to your pet’s feeding schedule.

There is no doubt that both you and your pup will go home rejuvenated and satisfied from your visit to the market, with plans to come back next Saturday. The Sequim Farmers Market is open every Saturday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., rain or shine, through the end of October.

This week, enjoy our summer live music series with PK Dwyer performing from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
