Four Sequim students are UW graduates

University of Washington graduates in June included several students from Sequim.

Graduates include Timothy Dosey, Bachelor of Science, biochemistry; Heather Gillis, Bachelor of Science, nursing; James Hanks, Bachelor of Science, mechanical engineering; and Amy Lange, Bachelor of Arts, international studies and general/individual studies.

Eaton earns spot on Cal Lutheran's dean's list

Aaron Eaton, a 2008 graduate of Sequim High School, was named to California Lutheran University's dean's list for spring semester.

Eaton is a sophomore majoring in multimedia.

Students qualify for the dean's list by maintaining a 3.60 grade-point average.

Shannon graduates from Michigan State

Holly Shannon of Port Angeles was among the spring graduates of Michigan State University College of Law.

Birth-to-3 program gets new home

The Sequim Birth-to-3 program meets from 9:30-11:30 a.m. each Friday at Sequim Worship Center, 640 N. Sequim Ave.

Library hosts fun events

The Sequim Library (630 N. Sequim Ave.) hosts a number of fun events for youths this month, starting at 10:30 a.m. each Wednesday.

On July 7, Valentine's Pigs perform.

On July 14, the library is home to "mad" science.

Magician Jeff Evans visits the library on July 21.

The Zambini brothers, puppeteers with creatures of all shapes and sizes, visit on July 28.

Parents: remember to register your fall kindergarten student. For more information, call Helen Haller Elementary School at 582-3200 or Greywolf Elementary School at 582-3300.

Sequim band, flag team host car washes

Sequim High School band and flag team is having two more car washes this summer to raise money for upcoming trips.

The car wash dates are July 31 and Aug. 21.

All car washes from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. near Tarcisio Italian Place, 609 W. Washington St.

Continuing education scholarships available

Soroptimist International of Sequim is accepting applications for three continuing education scholarships.

Applicants must be female graduates of Sequim High School or have a legal address within the Sequim School District. They also need to have completed one year of college or equivalent and plan to be enrolled in school for the fall of 2010. Applications for these $1,000 scholarships are available online at or may be picked up at Sequim Village Glass in Carlsborg or at McHugh Realtors in Sequim.

Completed applications must be postmarked by July 15.

ASSE exchange program seeks host families

The ASSE international student exchange program seeks host families for boys and girls from a variety of countries across the globe. Students are 15-18 years old. They are a set of academically select students and speak English.

ASSE students are fully insured and bring their own personal spending money.
