The Sequim High School Flag Team invites high school students to join them for a season of performing with the Sequim High School Band.

Tryouts for the 2011-2012 flag team season are from 12:30-4 p.m. Thursday,

Sept. 1, and 9 a.m.-noon Friday, Sept. 2, in the high school band room on West Fir Street, across from the school’s tennis courts.

For tryouts, participants are asked to wear comfortable clothes, athletic shoes, and to bring a water bottle. Incoming freshman are welcome.

Flag Team members learn performance skills and choreography, combining flag work with marching and dance movement.

This season, performance locations include Husky Band Day at a University of Washington football game in September; SHS Homecoming in October; the Seattle Macy’s Holiday Parade in November; a basketball halftime show in February; a parade in Victoria, B.C.; the Irrigation Festival parade in May; and a June concert.

Regular rehearsals begin the second week of school.

Call Nancy Reis at 681-2952 for more information or see band director Vern Fosket in the band room during the first week of school.
