Mushroom expert to speak with OP Mycological Society

Seattle author Langdon Cook shares his mushroom insights with the Olympic Peninsula Mycological Society at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, at Gardiner Community Center, 980 Old Gardiner Road.

The event is free and open to the public.

Cook is most recently a 2014 Northwest Book Award winner for ”The Mushroom Hunters: On the Trail of an Underground America,” a tale about the often secretive world of mushroom hunters and dealers on the West Coast. Cook has contributed to numerous magazines, newspapers and appeared on TV for his expertise in areas like mushroom hunting and culinary foraging. A mushroom identification class is held for a $5 donation at 6 p.m. prior to the discussion.
