Vileda “Lee” and Bob Glas of Port Angeles celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary June 21. Married in Niagara, N.D., the couple only has lived in Port Angeles.

Lee was born in Niagara and moved to the peninsula in 1942. Having worked at Crown Zellerbach and elsewhere, she retired from the Thrifty 88 Center after 30 years of service. She went on to work part time at Sequim’s Clallam Co-op and the Pumpkin Patch.

Bob was born in Port Angeles and had grandparents who homesteaded on Mount Misery (now Mount Pleasant). Except for U.S. Army duty during World War II, he has lived in Port Angeles all of his life.

Bob retired after 32 years of service from ITT Rayonier in 1977.

Lee, 90, enjoys gardening, baking and cooking. Bob, 95, hunts, fishes, cuts and splits firewood.
