Reader's Theatre, OTA stage classic Christmas tales

Reader's Theatre Plus announces its second annual presentation of a staged reading of Frank Capra's "It's a Wonderful Life," and in collaboration with Olympic Theatre Arts will present readings of two different versions of "A Christmas Carol."

Performances of "It's a Wonderful Life" are at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11, and 2 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, at the Old Dungeness Schoolhouse, 2781 Towne Road, Sequim.

The play also will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, at the Port Angeles Playhouse, 1203 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles.

There is a suggested $10 donation at the door. The proceeds will benefit Sew Much Comfort, a nationwide nonprofit organization dedicated to sewing free adaptive clothing for wounded soldiers.

Cast members are Pat Owens, Peggy Kempf, Rob Sommers, Barb Frederick, Ron Graham, Erica Van Calcar, Lee Harwell and Ric Munhall.



Collaborative event

"A Christmas Carol" will be staged at the Olympic Theatre Arts Center, 414 N. Sequim Ave. Proceeds will benefit the OTA building fund.

The first version is Charles Dickens' Christmas classic with narration taken from notes written by Dickens while writing "A Christmas Carol" that add a new dimension to the story. This version will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18, and at

2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, and Sunday, Dec. 20.

The second play takes place in the present. Ebenezer Scrooge V owns and operates The Happy Humbug Gift Shoppe, which he inherited from his great-great-grandfather Ebenezer. He also has inherited his ancestor's priorities, fears and ghosts.

This version will be presented at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19; Sunday, Dec. 20; and Monday, Dec. 21. Christmas cookies and carols will round out each performance. Tickets cost $10, available through the OTA Web site, www.olympic
