Concert features piano soloist

WomenSing welcomes pianist and composer Jackson Berkey and conductor Almeda Berkey to the May 20 and May 22 event. Sponsored by the Northwest Women's Chorale, this year's event includes Port Townsend's ensemble Trillium and Port Angeles High School's Women of Symphonic Choir and Vocal Unlimited.

The third annual concert starts at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 20, at Port Angeles High School, 304 E. Park Ave., where the Port Angeles school choirs conducted by Jolene Dalton Gailey will perform. In addition to conducting several pieces, Jackson Berkey will be featured as a piano soloist. Saturday at 7 p.m., WomenSing is at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 301 Lopez Ave. The musical groups will perform individual selections before combining as one choir of 150 voices under the direction of Almeda Berkey and accompaniment of Jackson Berkey to sing several of his original compositions.

NWWC thanks the Norcliff Foundation, Port Angeles Education Foundation, Jim's Pharmacy, Northwest Mortgage and First Federal for financially facilitating the appearance of the Berkeys at WomenSing.

The cost for each concert is $10 and tickets are available at the door.
