Returning for another chance to tickle your funny bone, “Humor in Paradise: An Evening of Amusing Treats by Peninsula Women” is back for an encore performance.

After a sellout performance in Port Townsend, organizers take the show to the Gardiner Community Center, 980 Old Gardiner Road, Gardiner, to accommodate a larger audience. The all-woman cast takes the stage at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24.

This event, co-produced by contributing playwrights and performers Rebecca Redshaw and Deborah Wiese, is a benefit for the Paradise Theatre School of Chimacum, which shut down last year. Jefferson County is requiring building-safety upgrades that will cost about $50,000, according to Paradise co-artistic director Pattie Miles Van Beuzekom.

The program’s inspiration came from Marcia Perlstein, a psychotherapist from New York City now residing in Port Townsend. She performs “Down Home Therapy," a monologue with audience participation about her inner process in the office.

Along with directing the performances, Sheila Khalov introduces the audience to “Mary Frances O'Reilly,” the oldest Jewish woman in the world, reminiscent of Mel Brooks and Carl Reiner’s “2000 Year Old Man.”

In total, more than 10 comic pieces will be performed by talent from Port Angeles to Port Townsend.

Suggested donation is $15 at the door or tickets may be purchased in advance at the Port Townsend Food Co-op, 414 Kearney St., and Lesser donations are accepted for entry, too.

Contact the Gardiner Community Center at 360-797-8235.
