Lunch in the Garden series continues
Home gardeners can get timely advice from local experts about vegetable gardening from noon-1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, at the Fifth Street Community Garden, 325 Fifth St., Port Angeles.
The event is part of Lunch in the Garden, an educational series sponsored by WSU Clallam County Master Gardeners on the second Friday of each month through September.
Each month Master Gardeners show home gardeners what needs to be done in vegetable gardens at that time and what problems are likely to appear. They also take questions and share recipes that use fresh local produce.
This month Laurel Moulton, Rosanna Yates-Bailey and Jeanette Stehr-Green will talk about fall/winter gardens, saving seeds, getting tomatoes to ripen, and much more. Intern Master Gardener Barbara Heckard will talk about growing and using thyme.
Moulton, a Master Gardener since 2006, is the Master Gardener Program coordinator. Yates-Bailey joined Master Gardeners in 2012 and helps tend the Master Gardener plots at the Community Garden. Stehr-Green has been a Master Gardener since 2003 and was 2012 Clallam County Veteran Master Gardener of the Year.
The program is free. For more information, call 565-2679.
