Social ballroom dance classes return to Sequim’s Macleay Hall

Social ballroom dance classes at Macleay Hall in Sequim will begin again on Tuesday, Sept. 3.

Instructors Carol Hathaway, Steve Johnson, and Michael and Darlene Clemens will lead the classes, including East and West Coast swing, waltz, foxtrot, cha cha, rumba, night club two-step, quickstep, samba, mambo, salsa and Argentine tango.

Johnson will teach East Coast swing from Sept. 3-Oct. 1 and Hathaway will teach the waltz from Oct. 8-Nov. 5. The Clemenses will teach West Coast swing, though dates are pending.

A dance party will be Dec. 17 and winter classes will begin Jan. 7, 2014.

Two hours of lessons — one beginning class from 7-7:50 p.m. and one intermediate class from 8-8:50 p.m. will be held each week. The cost per hour is $7, for both classes $12.

For the intermediate class a basic understanding and experience of dance is expected.

Call the Clemenses at 457-2001, Johnson at 461-4157 or Hathaway at 460-3836 for more information.
