Get ‘Blue’ at Schoolhouse

The Peninsula Friends of Music Performance presents a jazz concert event at 7 p.m. Friday, April 25, at the Dungeness Schoolhouse.

The concert features four of the top jazz artists on the peninsula: Chuck Easton (guitar), Craig Buhler (saxophones), Taylor Ackley (bass) and Terry Smith (drums), along with Brian Atkinson, a professional vibraphonist from Los Angeles, Calif. (Atkinson was staff musician at Disneyland for many years and performed with Lou Rawls, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and appeared on an Earth Wind and Fire tour.)

The evening includes performances of jazz standards, original songs and arrangements of works by Charlie Parker, Fredric Chopin, Thelonious Monk, Gabriel Faure and John Coltrane. The culmination of the concert will be a full performance of Miles Davis’ masterpiece, “Kind of Blue.”
