Olympic Cellars' annual Saturday evening Summer Concert Series kicks-off Aug. 7 with the Astro Cats' original and popular rock and wraps up Aug. 28 with the "fiddle-driven roots rock" of Handful of Luvin,' from Seattle.
Last year's concert series raised more than $5,000 and the winery again will partner with four local nonprofit organizations.
"We are continuing to partner with local nonprofit organizations determined to provide a 'framework of elements needed for a healthy community,' as defined by The Seattle Foundation, a philanthropic leader creating positive community change across King County and beyond," said Olympic Cellars owner Kathy Charlton.
"These elements are arts and culture, basic needs, economy, education, environment, health care, and
neighborhoods and communities."
The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula; The Gynocare Fund, administered by Family Planning of Clallam County; Jet Set Soroptimists - Girls' Scholarship Fund; and North Olympic Land Trust/
Friends of the Fields are the agencies to benefit from this year's series.
Olympic Cellars donates cover charges collected for a specific concert ($5 per person for each concert) to the paired nonprofit in exchange for volunteer help in promoting and working the show (set-up, wine bar, breakdown).
Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs as winery seating fills quickly. All programs begin at 7 p.m. Olympic Cellars Winery is at 255410 Highway 101, between Sequim and Port Angeles.
Viaggio Pizza will cook its wood-fired artisan pizzas made with local ingredients for concert-goers on Aug. 7 and Aug. 28.
