The untold story of Maria Tallchief, who rose from an Indian community in Oklahoma to become America's first prima ballerina, comes to life when Peninsula College's Magic of Cinema screens Sandy Osawa's PBS documentary on the legendary dancer at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, in Maier Performance Hall on campus.

Osawa, a member of the Makah Nation and graduate of Port Angeles High School, devotes her films to presenting alternative images of Native Americans. Now based in Seattle, Osawa looks forward to showing the film in her own hometown area.

Admission to the film is $5 general, free with a current student ID.
