November Theme: Brown

Brown is the theme color  for Sequim’s First Friday Art Walk from 5-8 p.m. Nov. 2, and lots of folks will be wearing shades of brown as they ogle the art, angle for snacks, and give an ear to the music at Sequim’s art venues and receptions. • Start a little early on Friday to catch Sequim Arts’ annual members show and sale, which runs 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Nov. 1-3 and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Nov. 4 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hall, 525 N. Sequim Ave.

 

• Prairie Springs Assisted Living, 680 W. Prairie St., hosts the North Olympic Watercolorists show for November. Coffee and cookies are offered during the First Friday Art Walk from 5-8 p.m.  

 

• Meet The Blue Whole Gallery’s featured artists, Karin Anderson and Susan Spar, at the co-op gallery’s reception at 129 W. Washington St.

 

• In celebration of the Sequim Centennial, “Sequim Reflections” at The Museum & Arts Center (175 W. Cedar St.) showcases artists’ interpretations of seven historical images of iconic local landmarks and events, such as the Angiuli Barn on Sequim-Dungeness Way, as well as historical structures of yesteryear including the Hotel Sinclair downtown  and the Sequim railroad depot. The First Friday reception extends the museum’s hours until 8 p.m.  

 

• Vickie Maples of Pacific Mist Books, 121 W. Washington St., celebrates her first year owning the store with a reception and drawings from 5-8 p.m. Nov. 2.  Children’s author Carol S. Hervin presents her new book, “Boots Finds a Home,” and artwork by Jean Wyatt is on display. Refreshments are from Cameron’s Cafe & Custom Catering and Staffords Hand-Dipped Chocolates. Call 683-1396.

 

• Heather Creek, 122 W. Washington St., holds a fundraiser for the nonprofit Sequim Pre-Three, a place for parents, grandparents and caregivers with young children (10 months-3 1/2 years) which offers activities and guidance from an early childhood educator.

 

• The Red Rooster Grocery, 134 1/2 W. Washington St., features the print and ceramic art of local artist Donna Standerwick of Laughing Loon studio.

 

• Brian “Buck” Ellard plays fiddle and guitar at 6 p.m. at Dungeness Bay Wine and Cheese, 123 E. Washington. Sallie and Randy Radock’s art and photos are on display.

 

• Works by local artists and other American artists are featured at the Full Moon Candle Co., 161 W. Washington St.

 

• Enjoy Ken Beale’s photographs of the Olympic Peninsula, along with Dr.Thomas Clark’s Americana series of historical figures and retired Gnomes statuary at The Dove’s Nest, 139 W. Washington St.

 

•Jeff Tocher’s colorful acrylic artwork is at the Rainshadow Coffee Roasting Company, 157 W Cedar St., Sequim. Meet the artist and enjoy great coffee from 5-8 p.m.

Singer-songwriter Eileen Meyer performs songs from her three CDs with guitarist Larry Mitchell from 6-8 p.m. Free. Donations accepted.

 

• Meet local artists Sally Cays and Patricia Taynton at their show at Gallery on the Walls, 128 E. Washington St., Sequim.

 

• Robert Haspel’s photography is at The Crumb Grabbers Bakery, 492 W. Cedar St.

 

For First Friday Art Walk on Dec. 7, the theme is gold and participants are encouraged to dress up in the monthly color.
