Peninsula College will honor the legacy and memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a special free Studium Generale program on at 12:35 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, in the Little Theater at 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles.

The public is invited to hear Tacoma-based comedian and inspirational speaker Debbie Wooten. Wooten met King when she was just 8 years old and the experience changed her life. Born on the south side of Chicago with spina bifida, Wooten contracted polio at the age of 5 months and grew up amid poverty and alcoholism. After years of struggle and barriers, she shares her story to inspire others facing adversity.
