Tricare patients can get eye examinations

_ Retirees and their family members using Tricare Prime can get an eye exam every two years. Routine eye exams for retirees and their family members using Tricare Standard and Extra, and Tricare for Life are not covered.
Those eligible can make an appointment with any Tricare-authorized optometrist or ophthalmologist for an exam. All retirees, even Tricare for Life recipients, may receive one pair of standard issue glasses each year from the Naval Ophthalmic Support and Training Activity.

_ Congratulations to Cadet Petty Officer First Class Cynthia Teuscher. She has been chosen to receive the Daughters of the American Revolution NJROTC medal at the annual George Washington Tea.
Teuscher is a junior at Port Angles High School. Her parents are David and Cynthia Teuscher. She is a member of the NJROTC competition drill team and plans to become an elementary teacher.
_ The Military Officers Association is meeting at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at the Sequim Elks Club, 143 Port Williams Road. The speaker will be Don Bradley, National Security Division, Pacific Northwest Laboratory, on West Sequim Bay Road. Call 683-6419 with questions or for reservations. All officers past and present are welcome.
_ Members of the Mount Olympus Detachment of the Marine Corps League helped with preparing and serving food at the Vern Burton Center during the Port Angeles Homeless Connect project. More than 500 visitors and volunteers received meals provided by the Port Angeles Food Bank.

_ Many thanks to all who bring me puzzles, paperbacks, games, etc., for the Washington State Veterans Home at Retsil. I recently made a trip with all your contributions and the residents were so appreciative. I also took some folks with me to get a tour of this great facility.
Did you know you can go there for transition rehabilitation? We found out all kinds of great help is available there - from the work transition unit in Building 9 to assisted living to skilled nursing care to the dementia unit. If you have questions, call or e-mail me.
