I recently was in Washington, D.C., and went to see the World War II Memorial. I would like to remind you that there is an organization called Honor Flight that is dedicated to providing a trip to Washington, D.C., to see/visit the memorial to WW II vets. This includes round-trip airfare, hotel rooms and meals at no cost to the veteran.
In our area, the person to contact is Jim Broe, 206-999-6502, jimbroe@earthlink.net. He can tell you how to be a participant, donate, volunte er as a guardian or help see them off or greet them at the airport. There is more information at www.
honorflight.org. To find Jim's group, Freedom Fighters Honor Flight, look under "Programs" and "Local hubs."

Summer is a time for vacations, family events, taking it easy. Please look around you and see if a vet or his or her family is being included, needs some assistance mowing the lawn, maybe could use some fresh vegetables from your garden - and a "Thank you for your service" always is appreciated and brightens our day!!
