Operation Holiday Stockings is getting in gear to provide 5,000 stocking filled with goodies for the deployed troops this holiday season. They need your help — small items such as lip balm, moisture wipes, drink mixes, small size baby powder, sample size shampoo, toothpaste, soap and lotion and toothbrushes can be left at The Dropped Stitch, 170 W. Bell St.
Money for postage is always needed. Money donations can be mailed to Operation Holiday Stockings, PO Box 3186, Sequim, WA 98382.
Get information about this program at www.operationholidaystockings.com or e-mail Sue at email@example.com. It is not too early to start knitting stockings! Patterns are on the website.
Many thanks to Jerry Rettela for petitioning the legislature to pass a bill designating the Tumwater truck route in Port Angeles as the POW/MIAMemorial Highway. The 1⅓ - mile stretch is from Highway 101 to Marine Drive in Port Angeles.
We must never forget the people who were held as prisoners of war and those who are missing in action. Efforts are ongoing to find and return MIAs to their country and families. Please keep the missing and their families in your thoughts and remind our legislators that they need to be found and returned to us.
