Much thanks to a generous community

Again, the community of Sequim was amazing in donating children’s books to me to hand out at the Downtown Trick or Treat Event for kids on Oct. 31. I ran out of books again! Keep saving those books for me! Thank you so very, very much.

Republicans won?

Donald Trump claims that the Republicans won a great victory at the mid-terms. We can debate that, but for sure I know of three races they did win.

There’s Steve King of Iowa. Is this the same guy who called immigrants dirt? Is this also the same guy who endorsed a white nationalist in Canada and claimed we can’t restore our civilization with somebody else’s babies? Yup, that’s him.

And then there’s Duncan Hunter of California. He and his wife have been indicted on 60 counts of wrong doing for using more than $250,000 of campaign funds for personal use. Things like ski trips, hotel stays, European vacations, and just for good measure an airline trip for their pet bunny. Yup, that’s him.

Here is the best one of all. Do you all know a guy named Dennis Hof? Well, just to refresh your memory, he is the guy who was running for a Nevada state assembly position. He was also the owner of several brothels in Nevada. You know, those houses of ill-repute. He also had some really good friends who attended his 72nd birthday party and campaign rally at the Love Ranch Vegas — one of his brothels — the day he died. Some of the celebrants included a fellow named Ron Jeremy of porn movie fame. You know who else was there? None other than Sheriff Joe Arpaio and Grover Norquist.

Congratulations Republicans, you won. They were elected — even the dead one.

Mountain access key to fire suppression

This story/incident took place on Friday, Nov. 2: I was in town and to the south there was a smokey fire on the mountain top south of Sequim. This fire died down around noon, then started up again in the afternoon so it was called in. Now, we all know the huge fires in Oregon and California this past year blackened entire mountains and made a mess for all to see; (we) don’t need that here. Hopefully there will be four-wheel mountain fire trucks to put out these mountain fires next summer before our green mountains are blackened also.
