2019 ‘Night to Shine’ set: Organizers seeking helpers for community event

The sponsors of the Night To Shine free community prom invite guests with special needs of ages 14 and older, along with guests, to attend the third-annual Night to Shine, scheduled for 6-9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at the Vern Burton Center, 308 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

It is one of more than 500 such events being held simultaneously in cities around the world, sponsored globally by Tim Tebow Foundation. Camp Beausite will be providing transportation for guests who need it.

Volunteer and guest registration forms are available now at clallamnighttoshine.org.

Planners are recruiting for more than 200 volunteers, to help with everything from registration, decorating, door greeters, buddies for each of the expected 150 guests that evening, food servers, parking attendants, and more. All volunteers will be asked to complete a background check form and attend one of several brief orientation sessions set for January.

Local sponsors are also invited to help, with donations of cash, food for guests and volunteers, and more.

Night to Shine sponsors include Hillcrest Baptist Church, Clallam Mosaic, Camp Beausite, The Crossing Church and Wilderness Escapes.
