93 Days of Summer

• Aug. 30

Join a Master Observer at Hurricane Ridge for an evening of astronomy and star-gazing. On a clear night, visitors will be able to gaze on thousands of stars, as well as galaxies, constellations, nebulae and planets. Telescopes will be available for close-up views of these celestial wonders. Dress warmly for comfortable viewing. The program is free, but the park entrance fee applies. • Aug. 31

Take time to explore the Pacific Ocean’s or Strait of Juan de Fuca’s tidepools. Favorites include Ruby Beach and Beach Four in Kalaloch; Second Beach, Third Beach and Hole-In-The-Wall at La Push/Mora area; Shi Shi Beach at Neah Bay, and Freshwater Bay and Salt Creek Recreation area in Port Angeles.

• Sept. 1

Check out Sequim Farmers Market, our own eclectic market of farmers, artisans, food processors and food vendors offering exclusively handcrafted and homegrown products every Saturday, including more than 40 vendors and live music at the Sequim Civic Center Plaza, 152 W. Cedar St. Or, check out the Port Angeles Farmers Market (10 a.m.-2 p.m., The Gateway) or Port Townsend’s Saturday Farmers Market (9 a.m.-2 p.m., Tyler Street).

• Sept. 2

Assuming the wildfire smoke has cleared, enjoy a day at Robin Hill Farm County Park. With nearly 3.5 miles of foot trails and 2.5 miles of equestrian trails, there is plenty of room for all. Bikes are OK, but cyclists are asked to yield to walkers, hikers and runners. Check out the adjacent plant propagation facility where native plants grown there are being used in the re-vegetation effort in the Elwha River Valley. • Sept. 4

Cyclists will enjoy this one: Ric Hjertberg presents “It’s About SuperBike,” what program organizers call the “untold story of of one of the most ambitious sports development program of all time” as in 1993 experts worked on a futuristic, high-tech bicycle that was intended to propel American riders and administrators to Olympic Games gold medal glory. • Sept. 5
