• Sept. 6

Grab a guitar, mandolin, harmonica, hand drum or whatever and check out acoustic jam night at Disco Bay Detour on Thursday, Sept. 6. • Sept. 7

Check out your local high school squad take on a cross-peninsula rival tonight. Sequim High welcomes the Forks Spartans Friday, Sept. 7, at the SHS football stadium off Fir Street for the Wolves’ season-opener. Game time is 7 p.m. Bring a blanket and/or padded seat for the bleachers and root on the purple and gold. • Sept. 8

Get out for a GOAT run today … but be ready to do a few miles! On Sept. 8, Great Olympic Adventure Trail runs — a 50k, full and half marathon — traverses the Elwha River area to Lake Crescent via single track trail and logging roads, and finishes with a big a after-party. The runs raise funds to the Peninsula Chapter of the Backcountry Horsemen of Washington and to the Peninsula Trails Coalition for the construction and maintenance of the Olympic Discovery Trail and the Olympic Adventure Trail. greatoatrun.org

• Sept. 9

It’s your last day to check out Port Townsend’s famed Wooden Boat Festival. Set for Sept. 7-9, the event sees more than 300 boats on land and water, 120 presentations, dozens of exhibitors, live music all day/every day, interactive exhibits for children and lots of local food, beer, and wine. www.woodenboat.org

• Sept. 10

Take some time to give back with the Day of Caring on Monday, Sept. 10. Hosted by United Way of Clallam County at Carrie Blake Community Park, volunteers can help beautify this gem of the community by removing brush and spreading bark. • Sept. 11

If you “knead” some excitement in your kitchen, learn how to make your own sourdough starter with Victoria Redhed Miller at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11. Author of “From No-knead to Sourdough: A Simpler Approach to Handmade Bread,” Miller, who lives on a 40-acre off-the-grid farm outside of Sequim, provides instruction on making, maintaining and baking with sourdough in your own kitchen. • Sept. 12

If you have resisted the “Twilight” craze, now is your chance to get on board with the “Forever Twilight in Forks” festival.
