Castle performs Christmas celebration

City band holiday concert canceled

The Sequim City Band’s holiday concert “Sounds of the Season” scheduled for the evening of Wednesday, Dec. 21, has been cancelled due to a late-breaking scheduling conflict.

Last chance for glass exhibit entries

The City Arts Advisory Commission has extended the deadline to Friday, Dec. 16, for entries of glass artwork, which may include mixed media utilizing glass, for the next exhibit “Fused, Fired, and Stained … All Things Glass Exhibit,” to be displayed in the lobby of the Civic Center, 152 W. Magic show on tap

The Shipley Center, 921 E. Hammond St., hosts Louie Foxx, who puts on a “one-man side show and magic show” at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10. Tickets are on sale now, $5 for members and $8 for non-members. Call 683-6806 for more information.

Boosters plan jazz/dinner event

The Sequim High School Band Boosters hosts a Jazz Dinner & Dance on Saturday, Jan. 14, featuring the Stardust Big Band and Sequim High School Jazz Band in the SHS cafeteria, 601 N. Sequim Ave. Listen to great live music, eat a delicious dinner and do some dancing. Doors open at 6 p.m., music starts at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 each or $25 per couple and include a Hawaiian-style dinner. Proceeds benefit the Sequim High School band program.

Library offers LEGOs fun

The Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St., will host fun, free LEGO Junior Maker programs from 10 a.m.-noon on Saturdays, Dec. 17, Jan. 21, Feb. 18 and March 18. Parents or caregivers are asked to accompany all children under 8 years old. All materials are provided. Author publishes Haiku volumes

Author Gordon W. Anderson of Port Angeles announces the publication of three volumes of Haiku and Tanka poems, “Gordito Haiku: Books One, Two and Three.” Each book contains 300 Haiku and 60 Tanka poems. The paperback books are sold on his website at echospringspub.com, through his email at echospringspub@gmail.com and on Amazon.com in paperback and as a Kindle e-book. Anderson’s books also are for sale at the Odyssey Bookstore in Port Angeles and all three are on the local writers’ shelf at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St. Anderson also reads some of his poems during Fourth Friday Readings at The Lodge in Sequim.

Christmas tunes at Monday Musicale

Monday Musicale will meet in the Queen of Angels Fellowship Hall, 209 W. 11th St., from noon-1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19. The program’s featured performers are Curry Winborn and Gary McRoberts, one piano, four hands, highlighting the sounds of the season with Christmas music.
