Sequim Fourth Friday Readings on tap

Writers on the Spit sponsor the Fourth Friday Readings at 6:30 p.m. March 24 at The Lodge (Media Room), 660 Evergreen Farm Way, Sequim.

The open-mic night includes five-minute readings; bring poems, short-stories or memoir/novel snippets.

Whether you were born here or moved to the area later in life, what was your first impression of this community? What kind of positive changes have you seen or what changes would you like to see in the community? What actions could you take to bring about that change?

Share your stories about the Clallam County community with the North Olympic Library System. Interviews will be by appointment or during drop-in hours Monday, March 27, at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave.; and Tuesday, March 28, and Thursday, March 30, at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St.

An interview partner is recommended, but not required to participate.

Puppet shows come to libraries

Red Yarn Productions, a Portland, Ore.-based folk music and puppetry company, will visit two North Olympic Library System communities to offer free musical puppetry performances for all ages. On Tuesday, March 28, Red Yarn and friends will perform at 6:30 p.m. at the Port Angeles Main Library, 2210 S. Peabody St. At 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, Red Yarn will visit the Sequim Boys & Girls Club, 400 W. Fir St. in Sequim, for another fun-filled musical puppet performance.

Documentary series begins at library

A free screening of “Usual and Accustomed Places” will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave.

The documentary follows Makah filmmaker Sandra Johnson Osawa as she examines the fishing rights of Native Americans, discovering more about her own family history along the way.

The Documentary Nights! is a film series, where documentary films from around the world will be shown at 6 p.m. every fourth Tuesday of each month through June.

Upcoming film screenings are April 25: “The Color of Honor,” May 23: “Driving with Selvi” and June 27: “Haida Gwaii: On the Edge of the World.”

PA Community Players stage ‘Three Viewings’

The Port Angeles Community Players Second Stage production “Three Viewings” is by Jeffery Hatcher.

The play, set in a Midwestern funeral home, consists of three monologues that portray the lengths to which survivors will go to hold on to memories, money, life and love.

The play, performed with no intermission, is one weekend only — at 7:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday, March 24-25, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 26. Admission is by donation at the door.

Performances are at the Port Angeles Community Playhouse, 1235 E. Lauridsen Blvd.
