Thomas at next Fourth Fridays event

The Next Fourth Friday Readings event is set for 6:15 p.m., Oct. 26, in the media room at The Lodge, 660 Evergreen Farm Way, Sequim. The featured speaker is writer Bill Thomas, followed by 5-minute open mic readings. Attendees are encouraged to bring poems, short-short stories or memoir/novel snippets. They are asked to rehearse in advance, as readings are timed.

Better birding photos

Photographer Tim Boyer presents “Bird Photography for Birders” at 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at Wild Birds Unlimited, 275953 US Highway 101, Gardiner. The presentation looks to help improve one’s bird photographs no matter the camera. It examines fundamentals of bird photography through elements necessary to make strong images. RSVP to save a seat by calling 360-797-7100.

Event organizers ask for a $5 donation, with all proceeds going to Discovery Bay Wild Bird Rescue.

Book group to discuss ‘Curious Charms’

The Novel Conversations Book Discussion Group meets to talk about “The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper” by Phaedra Patrick at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave.

Copies of “The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper” are available in various formats including regular print, large print, audiobook, and downloadable eBook, which may be requested online by visiting the library catalog at www.nols.org. A limited number of copies of each book discussion selection are available at the Library the month prior to each meeting. The group meets every fourth Wednesday at 4 p.m. To participate, simply read the book and attend the discussion; no reservations are needed and drop-ins are welcome.

Touring comedian comes to PC

International touring comedian K-Von of MTV’s “Disaster Date” takes the stage at 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 19, at Peninsula College’s Maier Performance Hall, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles.

K-Von has also appeared on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing,” ABC’s “Good Morning America” as well as Netflix, Showtime, CNN, FOX and others.

The show is hosted by the Associated Student Council and is free to Peninsula College students and by donation for community members.

“His mainstream topics will keep the crowd entertained and fill the theater with laughter,” ASC Vice President of Programming Casandra White said.

The October comedy show is the first of three scheduled by White and her ASC programming team for the 2018-19 school year.

Contra dance with Heliotrope

Enjoy lessons dance or simply enjoy an evening of contra dance from 7:30-11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at 1219 Corona St. Port Townsend. The band Helioptrope is the featured group with Susan Michaels calling.

Cost is $6. A half-hour lesson starts at 7:30 p.m.

Crème Tangerine returns to peninsula

Following their summer performance at Olympic Cellars Winery, Seattle Beatles cover band Crème Tangerine is back on the Olympic Peninsula. The band performs perform “The White Album at 50” to celebrate the anniversary of the album at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26 at the Port Angeles High School Performing Arts Center, 304 E. Park Ave.

Tickets are $24 for general admission, and are available in advance at www.cremetangerine.com or at the door.
