B&G Club members give to disaster relief

When the news of the devastating hurricanes in Texas, the Southeast and Puerto Rico came to the Boys & Girls Club’s Carroll C. Kendall Unit in Sequim, club members were moved to do something.

Boys & Girls of America set up a fund to directly support clubs who need help reopening their doors so kids and families could focus on rebuilding their lives.

For two weeks, club members organized and conducted bake sales with goodies donated by club parents and the community.

Their efforts amounted to $500, and 100 percent of the funds raised will have an impact for clubs and members who need it.

“We truly have the best kids in the world,” Unit Director Dave Miller said.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula serves 400 youth daily in the Sequim and Port Angeles area at two clubhouses. For more information, call 360-683-8095 or see www.bgc-op.org.
