United Way of Clallam County invited to the community to a bowling fundraiser supporting literacy in memory of Claudia “Mrs. K” Elkhart. The second-annual Bowling for Books is 6-9 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 12, at Laurel Lanes, 108 W. Eighth St.
“(Elkhart) inspired generations of readers as the librarian at Jefferson Elementary School (and) … believed strongly in Clallam County Literacy Council’s mission: to promote and support literacy in our community,” United Way officials say.
Participants are asked to bring a new children’s book to the event. Books will be donated to Clallam County Literacy Council (an affinity group of United Way) and each book donation earns a raffle ticket for prizes. Thanks to event sponsor 7 Cedars Casino, 100 percent of event proceeds are donated to United Way to support local education programs.
Space is limited and last year’s event sold out. Tickets are $25/bowler; register up to a team of four.
