The public is invited to take in the colorful display of flora at the Woodcock Demonstration Garden in Sequim as area Master Gardeners offer a guided tour with veteran Master Gardener Betty Ashland at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 30.

The walk explores perennial and seasonal flowers in bloom throughout the garden as well as the herb gardens and vegetable beds. Among the ornamentals on display are: dahlias, which are in full bloom; succulents, which are flourishing in the hot, dry weather; and grasses, featuring a range of shapes, sizes and color. In the vegetable garden, tomatoes are starting to ripen while the asparagus bed is already preparing for next season’s delicious harvest.

Master Gardeners tend the gardens on Thursday mornings and will be available to answer questions on their respective areas.

The Woodcock Demonstration Garden, a 2.74-acre site at 2711 Woodcock Road in Sequim, has garden displays demonstrating sustainable gardening techniques that cover a broad range of ornamentals, edible and native plants as well as composting and garden design.

It is open to the public for free daily.
