Christian writers set first monthly meeting

Olympic Peninsula Christian Writers host the group’s first monthly meeting from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, at Peninsula Evangelical Friends Church, 1291 N. Barr Road, Port Angeles.

“Our purpose is to support professional writing and networking for people who have a Christian worldview and value system, regardless of the genre in which they write, or their experience level,” said lead organizer Crystal Linn said.

Resource materials and light snacks will be offered. There is no charge, but donations will be accepted to help cover costs.

The writers group grew from the Christian Writers Conference held at Dungeness Community Church last November — a second conference is being planned for Nov. 3 at the same location, Linn said — but the group is also responding to the requests members heard for weekly critique groups and monthly skill-building meetings. Three critique groups have begun meeting at various locations around the peninsula, she said.

“The Friends Church is centrally located between Port Angeles and Sequim, making it convenient for writers from all areas of Clallam and Jefferson counties to meet on the third Thursday of each month,” Linn said.
