Community variety show moves to Sequim grange

The Your Community Variety Show is relocating. Starting with the April 17 performance, the monthly program will be held at the Sequim Prairie Grange, 290 Macleay Road.

Since the show’s launch last September, it has been held at the old Dungeness Schoolhouse. Michael Bunnell, organizer and host of the show, cited convenience, better access, larger seating capacity and the grange’s lack of stairs among the reasons for the change of venue.

The program showcases musicians and singers, poets and storytellers, actors and dancers and novelty acts.

Bunnell said the mix of performers will continue to include local professionals as well as talented amateurs. He also hopes to recruit more young performers such as individual or ensemble acts from local schools.

The variety show is a free event to the community from Skookum Bay Productions, a division of Skookum Bay Publishing, in conjunction with Joyful Noise Music Center. Both are local businesses hoping to further arts on the North Olympic Peninsula.

The two-hour show starts at 6:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of every month. Information for performers and audience members is available by at sbyprod@olypen.com or 360-681-2686.
