‘Diamantes de Color’ comes to Sequim stage

Seattle-based flamenco dancer Savannah Fuentes bring her latest show “Diamantes de Color” (colored diamonds) to Sequim at 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, at Olympic Theatre Arts’ Gathering Hall, 414 N. Sequim Ave.

An evening of flamenco, “Diamantes de Color” features Fuentes and two Spanish flamenco artists: acclaimed Spanish-Romani guitarist Pedro Cortes and singer/percussionist/dancer Jose Moreno.

“Diamantes de Color” will also be presented in select locations in Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Utah, and Colorado.

Tickets are $34 for reserved VIP seat, $22 for general admission, $15 for students and $7 for children.

Fuentes, born in Seattle to parents of Puerto Rican and Irish ancestry, studies both baile (flamenco dance) and cante (flamenco singing) and has toured throughout Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Utah, Montana, Idaho and Arizona. She has independently produced over 250 performances and workshops featuring internationally-recognized Spanish flamenco artists.

Cortes comes from a family of Spanish Gypsy guitarists and began his studies with his father and the esteemed flamenco guitarist Sabicas. Having toured professionally since the age of 17, he is gaining international recognition as a soloist and composer.

Born into a family of flamenco artists Estrella Morena (dancer) and Pepe de Málaga (singer), Moreno began his flamenco career at an early age, saw his debut at Tablao Costa Vasca in Miami and has been invited to perform in various companies and worked with a number of distinguished artists.
