Documentary Nights! film series highlights ‘Shalom Italia’

As part of the Documentary Nights! film series, a free screening of Tamar Tal Anati’s “Shalom Italia” is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave. On the run from Nazis, three Italian Jewish brothers spent months during their childhood hiding in a cave in the Tuscan countryside. Nearly 70 years later, after emigrating to Israel, the three reunite in the country they were forced to abandon and rediscover their hiding place. “For years I’ve wanted to find that cave, the place to which we owe our lives,” says Bubi, the youngest of the trio. The 2016 film is not rated and is 60 minutes in length with subtitles in English. This event is a collaboration with POV, PBS’s award-winning nonfiction film series (see www.pbs.org/pov).
