Entertainment — Short story writer to read from works

On April 28, the Fourth Friday Readings will host Craig Andrews as the Fourth Friday featured writer at The Lodge media room, 660 Evergreen Farm Road, Sequim, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Andrews is a loyal participant at the Fourth Friday events; his short story, “Beans Fit for a King — A Fable for Our Times,” will be a change for him as well as his listeners. Andrews is a deep believer in the transformative strength of the written and spoken word. “Words are powerful and explain your world; they allow you to see something in a new way,” he says.

He is a graduate of the University of California in Religious Studies, a yogi and a Taoist Adept. Andrews is a gentle writer with no desire to shock or upset his reader. While no fan of the Pacific Northwest weather, he feels that the people here are his tribe.

An hour of 5-minute open mic readings will follow the presentation. Interested writers should come early to submit their names; rehearse in advance as the readings are timed. For guidelines, contact lindabmyers@ yahoo.com.

This is a free event.
