Estate planning workshop set at Peninsula College

Achieving both life and giving goals will be the focus of an estate planning workshop slated for 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, at the Cornaby Center at Peninsula College, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles.

There is no cost for the workshop and lunch, which is sponsored by the Peninsula College Foundation.

Anyone seeking information on financial planning, estate planning, charitable giving and the impacts of 2018 tax reform are encouraged to attend. Seating is limited, however, and advance registration is required.

The workshop begins with a look at the importance of financial planning, plan components and results with Chris Simmons and Ray Chirayath of The Olympus Group at D.A. Davidson.

Estate planning principles and strategies, from a legal and tax perspective, will be presented by attorney Stephen C. Moriarty and Tony Cunha, CPA. This year’s tax reform will be discussed, as will tax-advantaged giving strategies for different life stages.

Clallam County Commissioner Mark Ozias will talk about the collective impact of nonprofit organizations in our area, and the role they play in our communities, in a segment titled “Nonprofits: The Civic Heart and Economic Engines of Clallam County.” He will speak to the increasing need of local governments to partner in new ways with the nonprofit sector in order to address complex challenges across a wide variety of service areas.

Getta Rogers Workman, Peninsula College Foundation Executive Director, will wrap up the event by sharing simple strategies to ensure fulfillment of charitable legacy gifts.

Call 360-417-6246 to register for the workshop.
