TAIZE at St. Luke’s

All are welcome to the ecumenical TAIZE service at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 525 N. Fifth Ave., at 7 p.m. Monday, January 22. In a meditative candlelit atmosphere which includes singing simple repetitive songs, one may simply sit peacefully during the hour long service or join in the chorus while experiencing the calming effect of being in God’s presence.

OUUF speaker explains what it means to ‘Own It’

Olympic Unitarian Universalist Fellowship welcomes Bridget Laflin as guest speaker at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 21. Her message, titled “Own It: The joys and challenges of accepting who we are, what we do, and the effect we have on others,” discusses the importance of taking responsibility for actions and of seeing ourselves and our abilities in a realistic way, accepting and loving ourselves. It will also examine the story of Abraham’s treatment of his sons, Ishmael and Isaac, from the perspectives of the Qu’ran and the Hebrew Bible, and how the repercussions of Abraham’s decision still reverberate throughout history. Laflin is pursuing a Master of Divinity degree at Seattle University, is a wife and mother, and performs with a comedy improvisation troupe.

OUUF is at 1033 N. Barr Road, Agnew. Enrichment and play are provided for children. See www.olympicuuf.org.
