Epiphany Tea set

St. Luke’s Episcopal Church (525 N. Fifth Ave.) hosts the 2017 Epiphany Tea at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6. The celebration begins with a short liturgy or worship service in the church. Following the prayers and singing of hymns, tea will be served in the parish hall. Everyone is welcome.

The first modern Epiphany Tea was held at St. Luke’s in 1969. Six churches have since rotated the hosting duties for this special celebration: St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Assembly of God Church, Sequim Presbyterian Church, Faith Lutheran Church, Trinity United Methodist Church and Dungeness Valley Church.

The Feast of Epiphany is often known as Three Kings’ Day. In western Christianity, it commemorates the visit of the Magi, the kings, to the Christ Child.

Gifts for a new baby will be blessed and distributed to the Sequim Food Bank. Diapers and baby food are most welcome.
