Flurry of activites keep Boys & Girls Club youths busy

Morning Camp

It was Spirit Week at the club last week. The week started off with “CCK’s Got Talent” singing competition. We had more than 50 campers sing their favorite songs from the past and present. We have several youths who have amazing voices.

Tuesday was Costume Day. The kids came dressed up in their favorite costumes. There was a “Costume Parade” through our administration offices.

Wednesday was Sports Day where the kids wore their favorite sports team apparel. There was a lot of Seahawk blue and green with some purple and gold from the Sequim Wolfpack.

Thursday was Super Hero Day. The kids came dressed as their favorite super hero. We had several Batman and Spiderman costumes with a sprinkling of Wonder Woman and Cat Woman. The Super Heroes had a training course they had to maneuver through to save the day.

The week ended with a Pajama Party. The kids wore their favorite pajamas and watched “The Magic House” movie and ate lots of popcorn.

Oh, Canada

We took a group of kids to Victoria, B.C., on Friday. For most of them, it was their first time going to a foreign country.

After a rough ride on the Coho, the kids toured the Royal British Museum where they were mesmerized by all the realistic displays in the museum. They particularly liked the woolly mammoth and the old Western town. They also got to pan for gold at the goldmining exhibit.

After the museum, the kids were treated to an amazing lunch at the Old Spaghetti Factory. The folks at the Old Spaghetti Factory were so nice to our kids and the food was amazing. It truly was an amazing day.

Junior Rangers

The Junior Rangers trekked to Ruby Beach this week for some beachcombing in the tide pools. The Rangers had to identify as many sea creatures they could.

The Park Rangers provided them with a picture list of all the various life forms that call the tide pools home. The kids found more than 30 different species of sea life. They loved the exploration and were truly amazed with all the different sea creatures.

Teen Room

The teens went to Silverdale to the All Star Bowling Alley for their weekly bowling trip. They loved bowling in a professional bowling alley. The highlight of the day was Michel Himmelberger bowling a 150 game.

The teens have really enjoyed bowling this summer. A huge “thank you” goes out to the folks at Laurel Lanes in Port Angeles for taking such good care of them.
