History comes to life at Green River Mountain Men’s annual rendezvous

An era of our nation’s past comes to life as the Green River Mountain Men present their annual rendezvous at the Peninsula Longrifle’s location just south of Sequim.

The rendezvous is set for 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 1-2, off of Slab Camp Road just off of Lost Mountain Road; directional signs will be placed along the way.

This reenactment of the annual fur trappers’ gatherings in the early 1800s features historic-style campsites, traders and period-dressed reenactors with fascinating things to see and hands-on opportunities for the entire family.

Activities include black-powder shoots, primitive archery, seminars on a wide variety of fur trade skills and lore, music, children’s activities, traders’ row and much more.

Admission is free. A shooter’s fee is $25 per person for ages 13 and older.

The Green River Mountain Men is a nonprofit organization of men and women dedicated to educating the community about the pre-1840s fur trade era.
