Hospice volunteer orientation set for March 1

Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County (VHOCC) offers a volunteer orientation from 11 a.m.-noon Thursday, March 1, in Carlsborg. Call 360-775-7806 for directions.

Another orientation is set for 10-11 a.m. Friday, March 2, at the hospice group’s Port Angeles headquarters, 540 E. Eighth St.

VHOCC holds monthly orientations for anyone interested in volunteering with the organization — the first Thursday of every month in Carlsborg, and the first Friday of every month in Port Angeles. VHOCC has been serving our community for 40 years. Providing end-of-life nursing care, lending medical equipment and supplies, offering education programs, grief support groups, one-on-one bereavement services and specialized workshops on living alone, there has never been a charge for VHOCC services offered.

There is an immediate need for grief and bereavement support volunteers, VHOCC officials say. Professionals working in or retired from counseling or social work fields or people with an affinity for compassionate listening and support are encouraged to apply. Training will be offered as necessary.

Inquire with the Volunteer Services Manager about other volunteer positions where you can become part of this community support network.
