Kids Create Art series returns Saturday

The popular Kids Create Art series at the Sequim Library begins another season this fall with three new artists introducing new media and topics.

These introductory art workshops take place 10:30 a.m.-noon on the third Saturday of the month, October through April.

Led by local artists, each Kids Create Art session—recommended for ages 7-12 offer participants an opportunity to explore various artistic media. All workshops in the series are free, but with class sizes limited pre-registration is required.

On Oct. 21, Sequim artist Tricia Murphy offers young artists an opportunity to work with chalk pastels exploring elements of line and texture as well as principles of contrast and proportion.

The seasonal multimedia art project results in a brown paper bag barn owl.

On Nov. 18, Janie Brackney — a certified Zentangle teacher and artist — will introduce the Zentangle method, an easy-to-learn and relaxing way to create images by drawing structured patterns.

On Dec. 16, artist Lauralee DeLuca will introduce fiber arts, and offer participants a chance to get super clean, have fun, and felt a bar of soap to use or give as a gift. This process will utilize the ancient technique of wet felting in a modern way.
